The world around us is travelling at a lightning speed and if we’re going slowly, we’d be left behind as if we’ve travelled back into time with a Time Machine. Actually, I’m talking about the way we communicate with each other. If you’re still relying on the decades old text-mode, then you’re certainly being a centenarian even if you’re in your mid-twenties. The reason is simple that nobody has so much time to waste on trifles. Social media has transformed our lives and we must identify the best possible way we can use it in. But now I won’t say any more words; I’m going to show you what I’m talking about.
So it’s the latest iOS app called Flyreel that’s on our show tonight. The app has been developed by Flyreel and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 8.0 or any later version of the OS.
Flyreel is a video-sharing social media application where you don’t write down your thoughts and where each and every expression is directly communicated to the next person without “artificial-izing” it with hundreds of emojis. You simply record a video and share it on your wall. Suppose it was a reunion of your old college-time friends. So simply make a small (maximum 1 minute) video and post it on your wall and let everybody know what a blast you had. In case you want to share it with only some of your followers, say your college friends, no need to make it public. It’d be kept under curtains from all who’re not allowed to watch it.
Next, the persons whom you have shared this message with can respond with another video. Every new video added in this fashion automatically gets attached to the original message and therefore when you watch any such post; you’ll find a long reel with numerous videos stacked one after another. It’s a nice way to sort out all the comments that have been posted and I must say a very interesting one as well.
To keep interests alive, there are some challenges and contests always going on here. You can actively take part in any of them; post a cool video as per the rules and regulations of the contest and hope for your win. It also gives you a great way to search for different videos. You can type in the hashtag or you can watch the popular ones. There are videos from all sorts you can think of.
Flyreel attempts to change the language of social media and I think it has succeeded to a very good degree. The videos are maximum 1-minute long and they’re not stored on your phone. So you don’t have to worry about space-crunch at all. You can share videos on other platforms as well. So it’s an overall very nice place to hang out with friends and strangers.
The app is available for free in the App Store.
Pros: share videos publicly or privately; contests and challenges; one-on-one conversations; group messaging; free.
